About The Masonic Charity Trail Run

In 2012, the members of Ogden Lodge No. 754 A.F. & A.M. decided they wanted to sponsor an event, the proceeds of which would assist a local charity in the good works they do in the community.  One of the ideas was to sponsor a wilderness trail fun run.  It seemed like a great idea since nearby we have a beautiful facility at Homer Lake that seemed perfect for that purpose.

We selected the Developmental Services Center the first year, and the trail run was a great success.  The runners had a great time, local merchants were generous with both cash donations, and providing door prizes and items for our goody bags.  We raised $3,000 the first year--nearly double what we expected to raise originally.

It was soon decided that this would be an annual September event at Homer Lake, and each year, we'd pick another worthy charity in which to support.  The Ogden Masonic Charity Trail Run has grown each year.  We've been blessed so far with perfect September weather on the days of our run, and the runners enjoy both the location, and the challenge of the route--which winds through woods and prairies and along the lake and river.

And we not only get runners--a growing number of people come out and walk the trails as well.

Our fun run has proven to be a great way to not only enjoy nature and have a little fun, but also to help those charities do the things that they do to make the world a better place in which to live.
